The Name Drop
Nothing grabs attention like the sound of your own name.
What it is
You learn someone’s name, get it right, and use it on purpose. Not constantly. At the moments that count. Our own name is so self-relevant it can cut through noise, which is why you hear it across a loud room. Remembering it says “you registered with me.” Forgetting it says the opposite.
Spot it
A stranger, seller or caller uses your name in every sentence. “Well, Jon, the thing is, Jon...” Name overload is a script, not warmth.
Counter it
Enjoy being remembered, but notice when your name is being used as a lever right before an ask. Separate the warmth from the request.
